CTE Vision

Sanger ISD Career and Technical Education Department is committed to fostering a district-wide innovative learning culture. Students are encouraged to explore, choose, and pursue career pathways that align with their interests and goals. Through these experiences, Sanger students gain valuable, transferable skills that prepare them for success in both college and future careers.

CTE Mission

The Sanger ISD Career and Technical Education Department provides innovative educational opportunities that promote exploration and discovery while addressing the needs of a diverse student population. With an industry-aligned curriculum and highly qualified staff, students are empowered to pursue career pathways that reflect their interests and aspirations. Through comprehensive guidance and advisement, students develop personalized plans that may include career exploration, industry certifications, internships, and college credit opportunities while still in high school.

Sanger Independent School District offers support to the school district for career and technical education programs in Agricultural Food and Natural Resources /Arts, Audio Visual Technology and Communications / Business, Marketing and Finance / Transportation, Distribution and Logistics / Manufacturing / Hospitality and Tourism / Education and Training / Health Science / Law and Public Service / Cosmetology and Personal Care Services. Admission to these programs is based on enrollment in SISD secondary schools.

Floral Skills Knowledge-Based

This industry certification will test the student's knowledge of the floral industry, including common terms associated with daily floral tasks and identification of common tools and plants used in the industry.

Certified Nursing Assistant

CNAs provide basic care to patients. CNAs can help a unit run smoothly, especially for nurses with multiple medically complex patients. Common CNA responsibilities include turning or repositioning patients, checking and charting vital signs, bathing, feeding, dressing patients, and more.

Benefits: CNA is often the most accessible way for new workers to enter the nursing field.

CTE Program: Health Science

Patient Care Technician (future)

Patient care technicians are trained in basic medical skills in addition to patient advocacy and safety. Upon graduation, patient care technicians are ready to help patients in these areas:

● Basic nursing skills

● Rehabilitation care

● Care of surgical patients

● Skills to assist in medical offices

● Basic care to residents in long-term care and patients in home care

● Specialized skills to patients in acute care, rehab and surgical centers, doctor’s offices, and clinics

● Entry-level skills in phlebotomy and EKG

Benefits: Once training and certification is complete, individuals can work in dialysis clinics, laboratories, doctor’s offices, and hospitals. Depending on their goals, patient care technicians can advance in their careers by becoming case managers or office managers.
CTE Program: Health Science

Phlebotomy Technician (future)

Phlebotomy technicians are critical team members in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and blood donor centers. Tasks phlebotomy technicians may perform include: Drawing blood from patients and blood donors, Performing basic point-of-care testing, and maintaining medical equipment such as needles, test tubes, and vials.

Benefits: Fulfill employer requirements, Access better career opportunities, and Maximize earning potential.

CTE Program: Health Science

EKG/ECG Technician (future)

Technicians ensure proper electrode placement on the patient, record the EKG/ECG, prepare the report for the physician, ensure patient comfort and safety, and troubleshoot abnormalities with the recording. In addition, EKG/ECG technicians set up and administer stress tests.

Benefits: EKG technician training requires less education than most other medical professions and can be a great first step for those interested in working in the healthcare field.

AWS D1.1 Structural Steel (future)

AWS D9.1 Sheet Metal Welding

Covers sheet metal thickness up to and including 0.2391 in (6.07 mm). It is also used for the attachment of accessories and components of the system and the joining or attachment of members for stiffening, supporting, or reinforcing the sheet metal.

Benefits: Students who earn the certification are more qualified and prepared to enter a variety of roles within the welding industry.

OSHA 30 (discontinue 2026)

Elanco Veterinary Medical Applications

The certification validates the knowledge and skills necessary to begin animal health care careers. Those who earn the certification are more qualified and prepared to enter a variety of roles within the veterinary, animal science, and health industries.

Benefits: The certification allows employers to identify and connect with more skilled candidates, filling gaps in the labor market and jump-starting individuals’ careers.

CTE Program: Veterinarian

Elanco Fundamental of Animal Science

The certification assesses industry-valued and industry-recognized standards developing products to improve animal health and protein production in more than 90 countries.

Benefits: The certification validates individuals are more qualified and prepared to enter a wide variety of roles in one of the largest industries in the world. Additionally the certification allows employers to identify and connect with more skilled candidates, filling gaps in the labor market and jumpstarting individuals’ careers.

CTE Program: Veterinarian

Equine Management and Evaluation

The certification assesses industry-valued and industry-recognized standards produced by NHJTCA. Composed of coaches from across the country, NHJTCA serves as an official voice for horse-judging team leaders who set industry standards for equine evaluation and selection.

Benefits: The certification validates the knowledge and skills needed to begin equine-related careers in evaluation, breeding, handling, stable management, and more. Those who earn the certification are more qualified and prepared to enter a variety of roles within the industry. Additionally, the certification allows employers to identify and connect with more skilled candidates in a highly specialized industry.

CTE Program: Veterinarian

Certified Veterinary Assistance, Level 1 Certification

Certified veterinary assistants prepare patients for examinations by taking temperature, weight, pulse, and respiratory rates and aid veterinarians during exams and treatments. They may prepare medications, lab specimens, and surgical packs and be responsible for the daily care and treatment of patients. They may also have administrative duties such as billing and collections, scheduling appointments, maintaining files, preparing reports, and designing office procedures.

Benefits: A good way for individuals to show employers that they have specific skills and knowledge.

Educational Aide I

Basic Firefighter

Firefighters control and put out fires and respond to emergencies involving life, property, or the environment. Following the successful completion of the Fire Science program, you’ll be able to enact the desirable qualities of a basic firefighter that contribute to high professional and ethical standards.

Benefits: Students who earn the certification are more qualified and prepared to enter a variety of roles within the emergency service industry.

EMT Basics

The EMT program is designed to prepare you to meet the challenging demands of the EMS career field and to prepare for the National Registration of Emergency Medical Technicians cognitive and psychomotor skills exams.

Benefits: Completing this EMT certification will give you a closer look at the key concepts and hands-on skills necessary to practice in a fast-paced industry.

CTE Program: Firefighter/EMT

Non-Commissioned Security Officer Level II

Provide participants with the concepts and skills necessary of a non-commissioned security officer in the State of Texas. The online course delivers a Texas Private Security Program-approved curriculum for non-commissioned security officers, including the roles and responsibilities of security officers, legal aspects of security work, security communications, and response to emergencies and safety hazards.

Benefits: Students who earn the certification are more qualified and prepared to enter a variety of roles within the law enforcement industry.
