2026 Bond Package FAQs

Sanger ISD's enrollment is expected to more than double by the 2035 school year, exceeding 6400 students. Butterfield & Clear Creek Elementary schools are projected to be beyond maximum capacity by the 2029 school year. Sanger Middle School is projected to be beyond maximum capacity by the 2031 school year. Sanger High School is projected to be beyond maximum capacity by the 2034 school year.

The 2025 Long Range Facilities Planning Committee was composed of 37 citizens, including parents, grandparents, business leaders, students, civic leaders, educators, and Sanger ISD alumni. The committee reviewed demographics, growth and enrollment patterns, tax impact scenarios, district finances, educational programs, and the current and long-term needs of the district to ultimately form a recommendation to present to the Board of Trustees. This proposal is based on their recommendation.

All committee members were able to ask questions, express their opinions, and offer suggestions and recommendations throughout the process. They reviewed and analyzed the demographics, growth and enrollment patterns, tax impact scenarios, district finances, educational programs, and the district's current and long-term requirements.

Continued residential and industrial development is driving future growth. Sanger ISD is experiencing rapid growth. Four current Sanger ISD campuses are projected to exceed maximum capacity in the next 9 years.

The 2026 bond proposal will support every student, current and future, in Sanger ISD.

Voters will see an approximate 11-cent increase in their tax rate as a result of this bond.

Citizens 65 and over who have applied for and received the over-65 exemption will see no increases in their taxes as a result of this bond, unless major improvements are made.

One hundred percent of bond dollars will stay in Sanger ISD and are not subject to recapture by the State.

School districts do not receive state funding for building new schools and facilities, and instead must use voter-approved bonds, which help pay for large projects that get paid back over time, like a mortgage.

Bond funds can be used to pay for new buildings, additions, and renovations to existing facilities, as well as land acquisition, technology infrastructure, and equipment for new or existing buildings. Bonds cannot be used for salaries or operating costs such as utility bills, supplies, building maintenance, fuel, and insurance.

Sanger ISD is considering multiple options for the length of amortization, and does not anticipate amortization exceeding 30 years.

Early Voting begins on Monday, April 20th, and ends on Tuesday, April 28th. Election day is Saturday, May 2nd.

The district does not receive additional funding when property values increase due to the school funding system in Texas. As property values rise, state funding decreases, resulting in neutral revenue for the district.
