District Educational Improvement Committee (DEIC)

The District Educational Improvement Committee is a decision-making and advisory group for the Superintendent and School Board in matters of district planning, operations, policies, and procedures.

 Texas Education Code Section 28.004 States that a district shall establish a health advisory committee to ensure that local values are reflected in the district’s health education instruction.

Through "District of Innovation" the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) has been replaced with the District Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) and is charged to address the district’s health education needs as they are aware of the needs of the district and the students This will consolidate the number of meetings and the number of committees required by law and will better serve this community. The DEIC will convene at least two times per year to address these needs as well as many other necessities.

Responsibilities: Establish and review the District's educational goals, objectives, and major District-wide classroom instructional programs.
